Start with the opening, not an old walkthrough

The September 8 Signal describes a revised introduction. Older playtest videos can help you recognise the game, but their opening route and prompts may no longer match. Follow the instructions in your own build and note anything that differs.

Plan around a return point

Permafrost connects exploration with restoring shelters and machines. Before extending a trip, use a manual plan to record where you intend to return, what you are carrying and what you still need to investigate. This is a planning method, not a verified optimal opening route.

What to check in your first session

Record observations alongside the build shown by your game. A useful note explains what happened and under which conditions.

• Read the current controls and tutorial prompts.
• Record your first confirmed shelter and route back.
• Check crafting requirements directly in the crafting interface.
• If playing together, agree who hosts and test how your session saves.
